SBI PO 2023 Selection Process

The selection process for SBI PO 2023 is a multi-stage assessment designed to identify and recruit the most suitable candidates. It consists of three crucial phases: Prelims, Main, and Interview. Each stage carries equal significance, and successful qualification in each round is imperative to progress to the subsequent one, culminating in the final selection.

Stage 1: SBI PO Prelims

The SBI PO Prelims Exam is the initial screening round, evaluating candidates’ general aptitude.

  • The SBI PO Prelims Exam is an online objective test lasting 1 hour.
  • This examination comprises three sections: English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude.
  • Unlike the Main Exam, there is no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims Exam.
  • However, the bank determines an overall cut-off based on the candidates’ categories.
  • Candidates numbering approximately ten times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted from the top of the merit list for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: SBI PO Mains

Candidates who clear the SBI PO Prelims can appear for the SBI PO Mains Exam.

  • The SBI PO Mains Exam consists of both Objective and Descriptive Tests.
  • The Objective Test covers four sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Computers, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness.
  • The Descriptive Test is worth 50 marks and is conducted immediately after the Objective Test.
  • A category-wise merit list will be generated based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination.
  • There is no sectional cut-off in the Main Exam.

Candidates, based on their positions in the category-wise merit list and provided they meet the minimum aggregate qualifying score, will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise and interview in a quantity of roughly three times the category-specific vacancies.

Stage 3: SBI PO Group Exercises & Interview

During the ultimate phase of the selection procedure, candidates who have effectively passed the SBI Mains Exam will be invited to take part in both the Interview and Group Exercise. This stage is paramount as it determines the candidate’s ultimate fate in becoming an SBI PO.

Psychometric Test: The bank may administer a Psychometric test to assess the personality traits of candidates shortlisted for Phase III. The results of this test provide valuable insights to the Interview panel, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the candidates. The cumulative marks obtained in the SBI Mains Exam and the interview are used to make the final selection decision for the coveted position of SBI Probationary Officer.
