  • Ex-servicemen, Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs), and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs) who have rendered five years of military service: 5 years

Combining the benefits of age relaxation from the categories mentioned above is not allowed. Combining age relaxation from these categories with other criteria is prohibited. Additionally, certain eligibility conditions apply to candidates not eligible for the SBI Probationary Officer (PO) post. This encompasses:

  • Candidates with a history of loan repayment default or unfavourable reports from CIBIL and those with outstanding credit card dues are ineligible for appointment.
  • Candidates with reports indicating moral turpitude, inappropriate character, and adverse antecedents are not eligible to apply for this position.

Maximum Number of Attempts

Candidates’ overall attempts for the SBI PO exam are subject to limitations based on their respective categories. The permissible number of attempts for the SBI PO exam varies based on the candidate’s category. The attempt limits are as follows:

  • Candidates falling under the General category can attempt the exam up to 4 times.
  • There is no specified limit on the number of attempts for candidates in the SC/ST categories.
  • Candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC) / General (Persons with Disabilities – PWD) / OBC (PWD) categories are allowed to attempt the exam a maximum of 7 times.

Eligibility of SBI PO for PwD Candidates Reservations

SBI has established specific criteria for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) to meet the eligibility requirements for the SBI PO exam. Following government directives, reservations are allotted for individuals classified as Physically Challenged under Section 33. OH – Orthopedically Handicapped

  • Both legs were affected, but not the arms

VI – Visually Impaired

  • Total lack of vision
  • The level of visual clarity should not be lower than 6/60 or 20/200 (according to the Snellen chart)
  • The field of vision is limited to an angle of 20 degrees

HI – Hearing Impaired

When someone has a hearing impairment, it means that they have lost 60 decibels or more in the better ear within the range of frequencies used in everyday conversation. It encompasses:

  • Individuals with non-functional hearing senses for regular life purposes
  • Those who have lost hearing ability in both ears
  • Individuals who are unable to perceive sounds even with amplified speech
